Nearly half a thousand industry professionals and companies from the nautical sector took part on 9 and 10 March in the 10th Nautical Congress, organised by the National Association of Nautical Companies (ANEN) under the title ‘A decade of blue impulse’, at the Kursaal in San Sebastian.
National and international expert speakers gave their interpretation of the current situation of the sector and discussed topics such as training, tourism and ports, economy, sustainability, digitalisation and legislation.
The journalist, adventurer and yachtsman Quico Taronjí hosted the event, which was opened by the Basque Government’s Minister for Tourism, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Javier Hurtado, and the Councillor for Economic Development, Employment and Ecology of San Sebastian City Council, Marisol Garmendia.
Afterwards, Santiago Niño-Becerra, PhD in Economics, analysed the current economic situation of the nautical sector, while the director of Boot Düsseldorf, Petros Michelidakis, contextualised the current situation of the nautical industry on an international level.
After the debate and analysis in the Kursaal, the participants were able to enjoy a nautical sector cocktail in the incomparable setting of the Miramar Palace.
